About
This is a forum where a person can post their dictum — a thing they have thought about and are prepared to put their name to.
Most places to publish are one of two things. Either they are handsome and you are alone in them, a blog nobody answers; or they are busy and they look it, a wall of replies with no care taken over any of them. I wanted the third thing: somewhere polished enough that setting an idea down here feels like publishing it, and social enough that someone might actually take it up.
What is said here is not moderated. How it is said is. Nothing is turned away for the position it takes, and nobody is asked to agree with anyone. What is asked is that a piece was written with care — that it is finished, legible, and meant. That is the only standard, and it is the point.
It is meant particularly for a generation that has largely stopped speaking its mind in public, or never learned how — because everywhere built for it rewards speed and heat over having actually thought about the thing. Saying what you mean, at length, in your own name, is a skill. It comes back with practice. This is somewhere to practise.

The name
Three rules, if you want them. Look before you explain. Keep only what survives the mood that produced it. Then say it plainly enough that someone can take it apart.
